Smoot joined Elevation in 2018, when he co-founded the Private Markets team. Under his leadership, EPM has processed over $2 billion in volume since its inception in companies including Stripe, Snowflake, Epic Games, Palantir, Confluent, JUUL, and Robinhood. Before joining, Smoot was an Investment Associate at Emerson Equity. He began his career operating startups and working at family offices. Smoot was a decathlete on the Track and Field team while obtaining his undergraduate degree at LSU. He also graduated from Yale Divinity School, where he studied Faith and Globalization under Miroslav Volf, a teacher of faith's role in business. He holds his FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses.

Smoot lives in Dallas, TX.  He is an avid baseball fan and, as LSU Tiger alumni, he and his wife love jambalaya and Cajun cooking.
